San Diego

Dear Trip 4 Followers,

The San Diego scribe report was written by some very special scribers-Julia, Taylor, and Alec!! Enjoy!

We had a fantastic time in the wonderful city of San Diego. After a sleep-in at the Doubletree Resort, we headed to the beach for a day of surfing. “It was awesome! I love how you don’t need to be a pro, you can just go out there and learn,” explained Sam B. Josh and Alec were naturals, and stood up on the first try! Brooke and Laura got out there and tore up the waves, and Jessica R also got up with ease. Despite the very cold ocean, our Trip 4 campers tried their best in full wetsuits! It was an amazing experience for all of them that they will never forget!

After surfing, we were all exhausted and hungry. Fortunately, counselor Jess had a plentiful meal waiting for us! As we enjoyed our sandwiches on the beach, we all enjoyed the sun and beautiful weather. Mission Beach was a great place to hang out and goof off, and Matt showed off his beautiful new cape made out of sea weed!

After our sunny beach day we all traveled back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We all enjoyed dinner at the wonderful restaurant Islands, known for their burgers. “My turkey burger was so yummy” says Taylor Cohen. Everyone enjoyed a variety of food and dining with their friends. As the previous evening, the bus was filled with constant chants of “tooty fruity,” tour director Jared decided to stop the bus and surprise everyone with frozen yogurt! “It was the best- I got to take samples of every flavor and then chose the best one!” says Taylor.

Amazing as Jared is, we continued our awesome night with extended curfew earned by supurb Macarena dancing. Many trip members enjoyed the hotel facilities including time by the pool. After a busy day full of fun activities everyone slept very well on the very very comfy Double Tree beds.

The next day we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and Bruggers bagels where many campers enjoyed a variety of bagels including egg and cheese, whole wheat, cinnamon raison, etc. After breakfast we went straight to the famous San Diego Zoo! “I could not believe what I was seeing! Some of the most amazing animals in the world!” said Joni. We started with a tram tour where we sat on the top of a double decker bus which took us all around the zoo where we had fantastic views of beautiful animals including giraffe, pandas, hippos, and more.

After the zoo we experienced a moment of sorrow when we were on our way to do laundry and realized it was the last time we would share this experience together. After laundry, Souplantation was dinner, which some of you may have been to in Florida where it is called Sweet Tomato. This resturaunt was filled with a variety of different foods including salad, soup, pizza, pasta, frozen yogurt, brownies, muffins, and a variety of fountain and bottled drinks.

We then followed to our evening activity- LAZER TAG! We split ourselves into 3 teems- red, blue, and yellow. The yellow team took the winning medal in both games with a special thanks to high point scorer Emma! What an amazing time in San Diego!

Let’s end this email with THE trip 4 cheer …
