San Francisco

Hello Trip 4 Followers,

Trip 4 would like to welcome Cami and Vito!!! We are very excited to have 2 new Trip members who joined us in San Francisco from Italy-our Trip 4 family is now complete!

San Francisco has been full of famous and exciting sites. Our first day we rode the famous cable car, some of us standing and holding onto the railing while enjoying a view of the city. We got off in China Town and strolled through the shops selling fans, jade Buddahs, bangle bracelets, and rip off hand bags.

Camille bought some Hello Kitty Pez and Cami, Jerry, Sam L, Ally H, Dan, Emma, and Joni went tea tasting. “There was a tea for everything-relaxing, being energized, whatever you need” said Ally H. Dinner was family style Chinese food sharing platters of sweet and sour chicken, steamed rice, egg rolls, fortune cookies, and good times.

The visit to Alcatraz prison began with the ferry ride where we had a view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz Island. The tour of Alcatraz taught us that many people tried to escape the maximum security jail, and it is still a mystery if some of the prisoners ever made it to land or not. “It was so interesting to put yourself in the prisoner’s footsteps. The tour was real, and smart, and creative” said Emma. We spent the afternoon on Pier 39, which gets its name from its 39 piers. The most exciting pier is the one with the sea lions soaking up the sun and barking at each other.

The evening can be summed up with “Cal-if-ornia Girls we’re unforgettable” which is the song Trip 4 choreographed a dance to for the Dance Off challenge against the Ultimate California trip we met at the dance club. Trip 4 performed a great number, and showed awesome team work and spirit. And everyone showed off their killer dance moves on the light up stage and danced our hearts out.

When thinking about the famous sites of San Francisco such as the Golden Gate Bridge and the cable car many trips members cannot help but begin to hum the Full House theme song “What ever happened to predictability…” Many trip members requested to see the house from the much loved TV sitcom, so our amazing Tour Director Jared made it happen. We drove by Alamo Park, which is the park the Tanner Family runs through in the opening credits, and located the house in a beautiful historic section of San Francisco. We also played some Full House bus trivia, and Anna rocked at this. Can you name the name of the Tanner family dog?

We also had the amazing opportunity to see the Golden Gate Bridge up close. This was excellent luck as Tour Director Jared has been to San Francisco three times and has never seen the bridge until this trip, due to the typical San Francisco fog. The actual color is orange vermillion, and it is one of the longest bridges in the world. Everyone decided to walk down part of the bridge together, even Matt who has a slight fear of bridges, but says he was glad he went across. “The Golden Gate Bridge was my favorite. It’s big, it’s huge, and really cool” said Cami.

Our hearts were pumping as we walked, or some brave souls ran, up to Lombard Street. Lombard is the most crooked street in the world. “It was hard getting up the hill, but worth it in the end because at the top we could all look down at the San Francisco Bay and the city together” said Jessi R. We also rewarded ourselves with free chocolate square samples and sundaes in Ghirardelli Square.

Trip 4 also had the opportunity to see the Yankees vs. the Oakland A’s. This inspired some friendly rivalry as Trip 4 has many members from New York or the surrounding areas who are hard core Yankee fans like Sam B. and Alec or Mets fanatics like Matt and Sam. “I liked the baseball game, because it was cool to see how many Yankees fans were in the A’s stadium” said Alec.

Again, let’s end this email with the end of our dance off number…

(Group huddle) “Trip 4, Trip 4, Trip 4, Trip 4, Trip 4, Trip 4, Trip 4!”

Talk to you soon!
